Green Fingers

I harvested this big baby from our teeny veggie patch!

There is something so appealing about being (partly) self-sustainable. I like the idea of easily growing vegetables which go straight from the garden to the dinner table without much work. Since we eat *a lot* of broccoli, I gleefully wandered over to our veggie patch to get that big broccoli I had my eye on for a couple of weeks. The other five are still a bit too little but it's so exciting!

We're lucky that most of the meat and fish we eat is organic and hunted by Tom. The local Whitianga butcher cuts it all up for us and we end up with mince, sirloin, and sausages all thanks to Tom. I made some delicious Moroccan Mediterranean meatballs on Friday night.

Here's to more vegetables! If (when) we move house, I'm going to make sure our place has a decent size patch so we grow loads of yummy treats. So far I have to say that beet roots, radishes and broccoli are super easy to grow.

On a side note, this is the coolest living room I've seen in a long time.
